Start early. Have open, age-appropriate conversations early and leave the door open for further conversations.
Be age-appropriate. Use language your child understands. Use children's books, like those listed below, to help you get started.
Listen and be honest. Make sure you understand the question your child is asking and learn what they already understand. Answer questions truthfully and encourage them to keep asking.
